NMMA played a role in shaping the legislation, which mandates the use of cutoff devices for boats smaller than 26 feet.
City View Tavern: A hillside dive and home of one of the best spicy bloody marys and best views in town. The burgers are damn tasty, too. Meet the Big Ted Deluxe: eight ounces of griddle-cooked, handmade beef patty with American cheese, mustard, lettuce, pickles, mayo, onion, ketchup, tomatoes, served in a plastic basket with a bag of chips. 403 Oregon St., Mount Adams, cityviewtavern.com.
Another jigsaw-style play mat that’s a hit with parents is Skip Hop’s Geo Foam floor tile set, recommended by Otto, Neuman, and Greenpoint store Flying Squirrel’s owner Kate Schmitz. “Skip Hop play mats are very tasteful instead of being horrible primary colors,” says Schmitz. They’re the most adaptable, too, and come in a variety of muted colors. And because the pieces are not square, “you can arrange them to create a pattern of your choosing, like chevron stripes,” according to Neuman. Otto agrees: “Because they can be reconfigured, you can also change the look of them,” she says, depending on your child’s needs. Arrange them into a longer piece to create a hallway for a crawler, for example. “And there’s enough range [in the colorways], where if you have a gray couch and you want something to match, you can find something.” The mat comes in black and white, gray and white, or white, peach, and gray combinations.
"When you think about it, the railing is actually what you see when you're on the deck," he said, pointing out how contemporary aluminum rod can bring the look of a hotel rooftop bar to the residential space.
Most play mats for babies include a fabric base with an overhead “gym” attached (and are commonly known as play or activity gyms), but for those looking for just a mat, Fatherly deputy editor Matt Berical recommends this extra-large mat from Tiny Love that features built-in activities and a variety of textures. “It’s a large, quilted mat that works as a portable play space for kids,” he says. “It’s made to help kids move around and interact, and it folds up really small so it’s easy for parents to pack in a bag whenever they go somewhere. It’s also machine washable.”
“I know it’s 100 percent anecdotal,” Griffin said. “But if you were in my shoes, listening to these stories, you would say this is too coincidental.”
Beside these, and because the #donglelife is real, I also have a Moshi USB-C Multiport Adapter. I got the pink one by mistake, but there's a silver one too. It's very well built with a small USB-C cable that conveniently tucks in. On the other side, there's a USB-C port for passthrough charging, a USB-A port, and an HDMI port. Perfect when I want to connect my Pixelbook to a larger display.
Beside the Olympus, I have two fun cameras that I use from time to time. The Insta360 ONE is an awesome 360 camera that lets me take funky tiny planets (like this or this), or shoot video without worrying about perspective or angle then frame it later to perfection. Its Android app has excellent editing abilities, and the fact that it magically removes the selfie stick is bonkers. But I'm annoyed about having to use the USB-C adapter to transfer photos to my phone. That's why I'm really looking forward to the newer ONE X.
“We’re very pleased to be working with Wilks, who are extremely experienced in our industry. Given that Dek-King is low maintenance, recyclable, easy to fit and looks like the real thing, we’re sure this product will be really well received throughout the country,” said David Brundson of Marine Decking Solutions.
Many researchers largely attribute the problem to implicit bias: teachers, administrators and SROs judging the same behavior differently depending on the race of the child. One superintendent in Minnesota examined discipline referrals for her district’s kindergartens and found that when white kids misbehaved, teachers described them as high-strung or frustrated—unable to “use his words”—while black classmates were labeled unmanageable or violent.
